I love Giraffes, including this incredible chalk on pavement artwork created by area artist Paulie Nassart at the recent Chalk Festival ‘Avenue of Art’‘ (ending 9/30) in historic Burns Court, downtown Sarasota. This year’s theme celebrated Sarasota, Florida’s Centennial.
The annual Chalk Festival features hundreds of 3-D Pavement Artists who turn the road surface into a museum-in-motion. They use chalk on the pavement, like a canvas, to develop oversized masterpieces in chalk. As an observer, you can watch artists transform the road surface into a masterpiece filled with chalk.
The artist created the giraffe using chalk on pavement art from a vintage postcard dating back to 1930-1945. The original giraffe depicted the winter quarters of the Ringling Circus. The giraffe was billed as “Ringling Bros’ $20,000.00 Animal Feature, Only Giraffe Known To Exist In The Entire World”.
