There’s no shortage of places to take your furry friend along, as Sarasota is a town of pet lovers — from parks to cafes to markets to hotels; dogs are often part of the fun—if not the main attraction.
Downtown Sarasota is great for strolling with your pup, especially when there is a roadside watering hole. We are sure that the bowl outside of our Peninsula Sarasota Sales Gallery at 127 S. Pineapple Avenue is always full.
Dog-watching is a sport at the Sarasota Farmers Market in downtown Sarasota on Saturdays. Other area markets also welcome dog visitors, including the Phillippi Farmhouse Market and Siesta Key Farmers Market, where vendors set out water bowls.
Many restaurants with outdoor seating welcome pups, including Libby’s in Southside Village, The Daiquiri Deck on Siesta Key, O’Leary’s Tiki Bar near Marina Jack in Bayfront Park, Amore Italian Restaurant in the Burn’s Court neighborhood, and Big Top Brewery. St. Armand’s Circle is another great destination with many outdoor cafes.
Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming sells hand-baked dog treats, leashes, decals, and grooming services for canine-themed shopping. You’ll find a Woof Gang in St. Armand’s Circle, Bee Ridge Road, and Lakewood Ranch.
You’ll find dog-friendly parks to play and explore. Bird Key Park is perfect if you have dogs that love the water. Sapphire Shores Park also offers a nice area with access to shallow water. Bayfront Park offers pet-friendly walking paths. Designated neighborhood dog parks include Dog Park at Arlington Park, 17th Street Dog Park, Gillespie Dog Park, and Canine Club Dog Park on 10th Street.
Beach time is also part of the fun in Sarasota, and that doesn’t mean leaving your furry friend out of the picture. Brohard Paw Park near Venice Beach is Sarasota’s only dog-friendly beach. This beach offers doggy and human drinking fountains, dog showers, fire hydrants, leash posts, picnic tables, and benches.
Lastly, there is an abundance of vet healthcare, grooming services, and daycare in Sarasota. Alas, too many to list.
